John Dillon
Chairman of the Board
John brings his extensive experience in On Demand software to Emergence Capital. John is currently CEO of logistics leader, Navis. Prior to Navis, Dillon was the CEO for salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the leading supplier of On Demand CRM.
Previously, John was CEO for Arbor Software and Hyperion Solutions (NYSE: HYSL), both leading vendors of enterprise software for business reporting, analysis and planning. John's professional history also includes management positions in sales and engineering for Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) and EDS (NYSE: EDS).
Dillon holds a BS in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis and an MBA from Golden Gate University. He served on active duty in the United States Navy as an officer in the nuclear submarine service and retired as a commander.

Jim Burleigh
Chief Executive Officer
Jim Burleigh brings more than 19 years of software experience to SmartTurn supported by a record of achievement as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) strategist, entrepreneur and architect of innovative supply chain solutions. His broad marketing and business perspective helped identify the need for a smart, simple and safe way to manage inventory and warehousing in an on-demand, green approach.
Previously as Sr. VP of Marketing and Corporate Development at Navis, a leader in the supply chain execution industry, he was responsible for Navis' overall marketing and product management, as well as business development, acquisitions and development, marketing and sales of new ventures. He also managed Navis' Distribution Center solutions, and initiated the founding of SmartTurn as a Navis subsidiary in 2004.
Jim's background includes sales, marketing and technical experience at salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), Remedy, BayStone Software and Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL). Most recently, Jim comes from salesforce.com, the most successful on demand service to date where he was the #6 employee, and served as Vice President Business Development, then Vice President Marketing and Product Management.
Jim earned a BS degree in Engineering and Applied Science from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech).

Mark joined NEA as a Consultant in 1995 and became a General Partner in 1996. Mark focuses on information technology investments. Present NEA portfolio companies include Alien Technology, Glacier Bay, Interlace Systems, ISGN Technologies, NewPath Ventures LLC, newScale, ProStor Systems, TestMart, Think3, and TiVo (NASDAQ: TIVO). Previous board memberships include, Growth Networks (acquired by Cisco Systems), Hyperion Solutions (NASDAQ: HYSL), iManage (acquired by Interwoven), Magma Design Automation (NASDAQ: LAVA), Silicon Graphics (NASDAQ: SGI), Silicon Spice (acquired by Broadcom), and Trading Dynamics (acquired by Ariba). From April 1994 to December 1995, Mark served as President and Chief Executive Officer and then as Chairman of Viewstar Corporation. From 1985 to 1994, he was an executive with Silicon Graphics, Vice Chairman (1992-1994) responsible for worldwide field operations, Executive Vice President (1988-1991) responsible for the product divisions, and Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer (1985-1987). Prior to this, Mark was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sonoma Vineyards and a partner at Arthur Young & Company. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California. Mark received a Masters in Business Administration (with distinction) from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (cum laude) from Amherst College. He is also a member of the board of Northern California Public Broadcasting (KQED).

Gordon Ritter is a Founder and General Partner of Emergence Capital Partners. He has spent over 15 years building companies which pioneered new markets including embedded web-based interfaces, server appliances, "On Demand" services for the SMB market and web-native application development. He led Emergence Capital's first investment, in the On Demand leader Salesforce.com . Gordon was named to the Forbes' Midas List of the top venture capital investors in 2007. He currently sits on the boards of Genius, Ketera, Lithium and SeaTab.
Prior to founding Emergence, Gordon was co-Founder and CEO of Software As Service, a Web services platform company he created with Marc Benioff, the Chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com. Software As Service is the origin of Salesforce.com's AppExchange. Prior to forming Software As Service, he was Vice President of the $3 billion IBM Global Small Business division, created as a result of IBM's acquisition of his company, Whistle Communications in 1999. Gordon's division was responsible for partnerships with dozens of technology-enabled service companies as part of IBM's On Demand computing strategy. He led IBM's launch partnership with Salesforce.com. Prior to IBM, Gordon was co-Founder and President of Whistle, a pioneering Internet appliance and services platform for small and medium-sized businesses.
Before Whistle, Gordon was co-Founder and President of Tribe Communications, a networking infrastructure company. Tribe pioneered WebManage™, acclaimed as the first HTML-based network management software. Tribe was acquired by Zoom Telephonics (ZOOM) in 1996. Prior to Tribe, Gordon was a VP of Capital Markets at CSFB in New York, where he headed the Collateralized Mortgage Obligation (CMO) group. Gordon has a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University.
Gordon is married and has three young children, including a set of twins. He is a Trustee of the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Gordon rowed on the heavyweight crew at Princeton and has continued rowing in the Bay Area. He also enjoys running, open-water swimming and cross-country skiing.
