Quality Assurance Engineer
We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer with strong technical and QA process skills. SmartTurn, a fast-growing software company based in Oakland, California, has a dominant market share in Warehouse Management software (WMS) to operate and optimize warehouse inventory management and control.

This position is located in our BART-accessible Oakland headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and help maintain the QA strategy and process for the product.
- Create QA test plans and test cases based on requirements documents and use cases.
- Use bug-tracking and test-tracking methods to communicate test status to the team.
- Perform functional and regression testing on each new build of the product.
- Design, create and maintain automated test scripts for Java web based application using automated tools.
- Execute test scripts and report issues in a defect tracking system such as Bugzilla or Jira.
- Interact with and communicate the status of testing to members of the QA, Development, and Product teams.
- Collaborate and communicate with developers for resolution of issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of software Quality Assurance/Control experience testing Windows and web-based applications, with a thorough knowledge of software development life cycle principles and quality assurance methodology.
- Ability to define appropriate test approach based on business requirements, functional requirements and design specifications.
- Ability to interact with software developers and product managers to generate written test plans and test cases from requirements documents and demonstrations.
- Ability to track and effectively communicate QA status (testing progress, defect trends, etc) of product to other team members.
- Mid level skills in development and maintenance of automated scripts (using a tool or language outside of the Mercury or Silk products a plus).
- Basic skills in a multiplatform scripting language such as perl or shell.
- Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to execute tasks independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Education: BS/BA Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical field.
Preferred Experience:
- Load testing experience
- Integration (Web Services/SOAP) testing experience.
- Some DB testing experience (SQL, etc).
- Java programming skills, including use of junit
- Experience testing Supply Chain, Warehousing, or ERP applications is helpful.
Compensation:
SmartTurn offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package including stock options. SmartTurn is located in Oakland, CA, with very convenient access to the 12th Street Oakland City Center station. Relocation is not offered for this position. The company is pleased announce it will be moving its headquarters to San Francisco at the end of Q4 with access to BART, CalTrain and Blue & Gold Ferry lines.
