Senior User Interface Engineer
We are looking for a Senior User Interface Engineer to join the SmartTurn Engineering team. This role will contribute to the execution of the company product roadmap through the design, implementation and testing of the User Interface of SmartTurn's flagship product.
The User Interface Senior Engineer will apply and improve SmartTurn's software engineering practices, continuously learn and improve in knowledge of User Interaction and Interface design and technologies and software engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Design and implementation of the User Interface of a new product under development. This product will support a rich interface for power users as well as an easy to use and intuitive interface for occasional users.
- Interact with Product Management and the rest of the development team in the definition of the product, interacting with the User Experience for Mock ups and detailed prototypes of the UI
- Detailed Design, Implement and Unit test the user interface in a Web and GWT environment. Provide infrastructure support for the UI modules of the system.
- Provide feedback to product management and engineering management on the impact of requirements and design decisions on the user experience of the product.
- Active self-training and learning of User Interface design and technology, and software engineering.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6-8 years professional engineering experience in User Interface design and implementation
- Strong analytical and diagnosis skills. Able to understand and critique third party code and open source code.
- 3-5 year of experience with Web (HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, DOM) development in a J2EE environment.
- Required areas of proficiency: DHTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, Tapestry, GWT
J2EE: Hibernate, JBoss and Spring
- Windows XP and Linux development environments.
- Preferrable experience in Structured OO methodology (e.g. UML) (3-5 years)
- Experience in Agile (SCRUM) Software engineering practices
- Experience in use of configuration control tools and defect tracking. CVS, Ant
- Experience in the use of Unit Tests and Continuous Integration Techniques (Junit, WebUnit/HttpUnit)
- Ability to work by objectives, self managed, ability to provide technical leadership, excellent communication skills.
Compensation:
SmartTurn offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package including stock options. SmartTurn is located in Oakland, CA, with very convenient access to the 12th Street Oakland City Center station. Relocation is not offered for this position. The company is pleased announce it will be moving its headquarters to San Francisco at the end of Q4 with access to BART, CalTrain and Blue & Gold Ferry lines.
