Additional date options in criteria

Within each criteria, in the Filtering, there are several different options for entering the dates you want to filter by. You can filter based on an exact match or a range of values, using any of the following methods:

  • Absolute: Enter an absolute date, using format mm/dd/yyyy
  • Relative: Enter a relative date, for example "-7" for seven days previous, "+5" for five days from now, or "today"
    • You can also enter relative dates based on weeks, months, or years: "-2w" for two weeks previous, "-2m" for two months previous, "-2y" for two years previous.
    • The default unit is days. "-2" and "-2d" both mean two days previous.
  • Periodic: Enter relative dates based on periods using the "!" (exclamation point) character. Add "!" to your date to specify whole periods before or after the current one. Using "-" or "+" lets you specify the beginning and end of the period, respectively. For example:
    • "-1m!" refers to one whole month before the current one, that is, to the beginning of the previous month
    • "+3w!" refers to three weeks after the current one, that is, to the end of three weeks after this week
    • "+0w!" refers to the end of the present week

Periodic dates are most useful in billing line manager criteria. For example, if you want to return all of the items from the previous month, you could use date in range from "-1m!" to "-0m!", that is, from date in range from the beginning of the previous month to the beginning of the current month.
