Using an activity line manager to view all transactions for an item master

Activity lines are line items on SmartTurn documents that reflect the original or primary warehouse transaction being carried out on the document. SO Items, PO Items, Receipt Items, Shipment Items, and Storage Items are all examples of activity lines. (Billing lines are not activity lines.)

Activity line managers use activity line manager criteria to let you easily manage particular subsets of activity lines from across all your documents. You can use activity line managers to view activity lines based on personalized search criteria.

For example, you could use activity line managers to create a single view of all of the purchase order items and receipt items for a particular time period. You can think of this process as using an activity line manager to combine the Ordering>Purchase Order Items List and the Receiving>Receipt Items List into a single view, and then filtering by date to look at the purchasing and receiving for a the previous month.

As another example, you could use activity line managers to view all the transactions for an item master. This gives you visibility into your item movement. If you are a 3PL (Third Party Logistics) operation, you may have Owners who are interested in this information for their items.

To use an activity line manager to view all the transactions for an item master:

  1. Create activity line manager criteria that selects the item in question for the period in question.

For example, you might create a criteria with a Filtering that selects Item # matches BB-10, Item Status Closed, and Transaction date in range -30 to today. This captures all of the completed transactions involving item master BB-10 in the previous 30 days.

The Transaction date is the date the document is marked, for business purposes, as having taken place. (This is the generic name for the PO Date, SO Date, Receipt Date, Shipment Date, Items in Storage As Of, and Transaction Date.)

As another example, if you are a 3PL (Third Party Logistics) operation, you might create a criteria with a Filtering that selects Owner matches a particular Owner, Item Status Closed, and Business effective date in range -30 to today. This captures all of the completed transactions involving item masters owned by this Owner in the previous 30 days. In this example, you may also want to add a Sorting to your criteria that sorts by Item #. This will make the output of your activity line manager a little easier to read.

  4. You can use the activity lines in this activity line manager as a transaction history report. Optionally, export the activity lines in the activity line manager to a spreadsheet. More info...
