Creating PDF report templates with Pentaho

For many documents in SmartTurn, you have the option of printing a PDF report by selecting Print PDF's from the top of the screen. A PDF report is the combination of a report template (printout) and the data from a specific document.

SmartTurn provides several PDF report templates. However, if you are interested, you can design your own report templates. You need to have Custom PDF Reporting enabled in order to upload your own report templates into SmartTurn. Your Customer Experience Manager can enable Custom PDF Reporting for you. Designing your own report templates requires:

installation of third party, open source software (Pentaho Report Designer);
installation of additional and modified libraries for this software;
becoming familiar with the SmartTurn web services data sources;
becoming familiar with Pentaho Report Designer and learning how to use it.

The installation process usually takes about half an hour.

The process of learning how to use Pentaho Report Designer can take much longer, and is not supported by SmartTurn Customer Experience Managers. There is extensive documentation available at http://reporting.pentaho.org.
