Choosing a business process

To choose a business process for a custom field you are creating, think about whether the field has to do with the item or with a document containing a list of items. Refer to the table below to select the best option:

 

 

 

Does the field describe something about:

Business Process

Where can the field display?

...an inventory item or the item master?

...a Sales Order, Purchase Order, Receipt and/or a Shipment?

Inventory

on the Inventory Item record; in the Item Master; on the item list parts of the PO, Receipt, SO, Shipment, and other documents

on the header area of the PO or Receipt
