Managing item master groups

You can classify your item masters into groups in order to simplify the process of searching for items for purchase orders, blind receipts, inventory reports, sales orders, and shipments. This is an optional classification in SmartTurn; depending on your company's business process, you may or may not want to use this field. See Adding an item master group and Editing an item master group.

Once you have set up your Item Master Groups, you can:

  • search by Group in the item master lookup screen when you're adding items to purchase orders, blind receipts, sales orders, and shipments. See more information about Item Master Lookup screens.
  • generate export files that allow you to sort and view your inventory by Group classification.
  • view Group as a read-only field on the many different View Item and Edit Item screens. This includes PO Items, SO Items, Receipt Items, Inventory Items, and Shipment Items.
