Editing a role
To edit a role:
- Select Administration>Roles. The list of roles appears.
- Double click the role you want to edit (or highlight the role, and click
Edit in the header above the list). The Edit Role screen appears.- To filter the list: If there are too many roles in the list for you to locate the default roles, you can filter the list using the Filter and Contains fields above. More info...
- To sort the list: Click any of the column labels. If the list has more than 25 roles, SmartTurn creates additional list pages. When you click the column labels to sort the list, SmartTurn includes all the roles from the overflow pages in the sort.
- Edit the Role name, the Business Affiliate Type, Description. The Role name must be unique, and 50 characters or fewer. The Description is limited to 200 characters.
When SmartTurn releases new features that indicate new permissions for users, the new permissions appear automatically within the corresponding role permissions tabs. All newly released permissions default to unchecked, meaning not assigned. You can control access to newly released permissions by adding them selectively to roles at the time of the release. SmartTurn will provide the specifics in Release Notes.
- To make changes to the assigned permissions, click through the tabs for the functional areas. Review the selected Permissions, and change them as desired. See Tips for defining roles.
The permissions that are available to assign to a role are determined by the license bundles(s) to which your company subscribes.
- It is important to accurately name and describe the role in the Role and Description fields. If you add permissions to--or delete permissions from--a role, review the Role name and Description fields to ensure they are still valid. Select OK to save the role changes. The role record closes, and the edited role appears on the list of roles at Administration>Roles.
