Navis Changes The Game In Warehouse Management
SmartTurnTM WMS launches at DC Expo as the first true on demand WMS
CHICAGO, IL—May 23, 2006—Navis, a global leader in enterprise software solutions for supply chain execution, launched SmartTurnTM Warehouse Management System (WMS) today at DC Expo. SmartTurn WMS is the first true on demand warehouse management system in the industry. Initially aimed at very small-to-medium-sized businesses in distribution, manufacturing and services industries, SmartTurn WMS streamlines purchasing, receiving, inventory and shipping operations.
Industry Analyst Steve Banker of ARC Advisory Group said "SmartTurn will shake-up the WMS industry. I've heard other WMS companies say that on demand would never fly in this market. It may be time to rethink that notion."
Driven by customers unwilling and unable to take on the risks and high upfront costs associated with traditional WMS applications, such as Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH), and HighJump Software, a 3M Company, SmartTurn WMS is delivered under the new standard "software as a service," or on demand model. Users subscribe to a monthly service in lieu of purchasing software licenses, hardware, and avoid ongoing maintenance fees. The main customer benefit is their access to enterpriseclass WMS capabilities at a fraction of the cost of traditional license and install solutions.
"I never thought I could afford a system like this. SmartTurn saves us a couple hours a day at least, and we've only just started using it," said Bill Nanney, Chief Operating Officer of Procrete, a concrete company in Casa Grande, Arizona and an early SmartTurn adopter. "We used to have tons of inventory errors. We have big plans to expand our use of SmartTurn as we grow our business. There's just no comparison for before and after SmartTurn in our operation."
SmartTurn provides a consumer-like experience in terms of usage, with intuitive interfaces designed to accommodate a wide range of user capabilities for a typical warehouse. Customers can easily configure and scale the application themselves by adding new users, warehouses and SKU's as their business requires. Implementations are in a matter of days, not months, with no lengthy customization, integration or training required.
Navis CEO John Dillon agreed. "We're democratizing WMS. SmartTurn WMS is the first affordable solution for the forgotten warehouse, and the market is definitely responding. We are bringing together all the pieces to make this a huge success."
