Founded in 1962 and based in Elkhart, Indiana, Markley Enterprise is a manufacturer of sales and marketing support products with product specialties in areas including point-of-purchase displays, trade show displays, and large format graphics. Operating a 20,000 -square- foot warehouse facility, the company also provides distribution services to complement the company’s manufacturing operation helping customers better manage their inventory and consequently provide improved service to their dealers and distributors.

Having initially focused on manufacturing Tim Markley, founder and president of Markley Enterprise, decided to move into distribution - in a mission to innovate and expand the business. In doing so, the company set up a distribution system in tandem with its manufacturing system. While it worked for a while, Markley Enterprise’s existing distribution system could not keep pace with the needs of its customers, as Markley explains:
“Once we decided to be a distributor, we quickly realized how very different manufacturing and distribution were from each other”, said Markley, “But providing distribution services gave us a competitive advantage because we were connected to the inventory". A solution was required to deliver more visibility of inventory and order status that could be accessed online. The solution needed to fulfill the following requirements:
