Using the Item Search screen to find inventory items
The Item Search screen provides several ways for you to find inventory items in order to manage inventory. You can filter (search) by a number of different criteria, sort by columns, and choose your pick policy.
To select one or more inventory items in the Item Search screen:
- If you see the item(s) you want in the list, check the box(es) to the left of the item(s).
- Click OK at the bottom of the screen. The Item Search screen closes, and the items you selected are added to your document.
To search (or filter) for items to add to a transfer, adjustment, or shipment:
- Choose a search field (or combination of fields) from the list at the top of the Item Search screen. Enter a full or partial value in any of the fields (Item#, Description, Serial #, Location, Owner reference, Pick by, Lot#, Group, Lic #, Owner, Broker, or Vendor).
If you don't know the exact value, enter the first few characters and select Search. The list will only bring up those inventory items including those characters in the selected field. If you only know one letter or character of one of the fields, enter it, select Search, and the list will display all inventory items that have that letter in the field you searched on.
Note that in many cases SmartTurn has already applied a filter to the list to help you in your selection. For example, if you enter an Owner on a shipment, the inventory items are pre-filtered based on that owner.
- Click Search. The list below refreshes with only the items that match your search criteria.
- If you see the item(s) you want in the list, check the box(es) to the left of the item. (If you don't see what you want, refine your search criteria.)
- Click OK at the bottom of the screen. The Item Search screen closes, and the items you selected are added to the table in your document.
To sort items:
- Click any column header on the list of inventory items. The list below refreshes, sorted ascending or descending by that column. (If your inventory items span several pages, SmartTurn includes all pages in the sort.)
- If you see the item(s) you want in the list, check the box(es) to the left of the item. (If you don't see what you want, sort on a different column, or search on one of the search fields.)
- Click OK at the bottom of the screen. The Item Search screen closes, and the items you selected are added to the table in your document.
To pick items based on pick policy:
- Confirm that the Current Pick Policy is set to the pick policy that is correct for this operation.
- If you need to change the pick policy, check the box next to the Override Current Policy field. Then select another policy from the drop-down.
This Pick Policy drop-down list contains inventory managers that are marked "Use as pick policy." See Using inventory managers as pick policies.
Note: If you have an Owner on the document, you will only see items that have that Owner (or no Owner).
- Only items that match the selected pick policy appear in the list.
